Language management

Here

Ecaldima has been designed from the beginning with multi-language capabilities. That makes it highly configurable when integrating any language.

Two areas should be distinguished where the use of several languages is applied:

  • The structure of menus, messages, names on default forms, button texts.
  • The service catalog with its categories, services, items and fields.
  • The tables of values of the CMDB (asset states, contracts) and ticket management (status, priority, impact, urgency, type)

In the case of the structure, extensions are provided that are installed on the platform. Ecaldima contains the extensions for French, English and Spanish included in the initial installation of the platform. Extensions exist for other languages and can be created upon request. There is also a translation table, which allows you to overwrite a translation or create a translation for a label in a column of a report for example.

For the service catalog, it is the administrators who provide the tags in the selected language in such a way that a category can be displayed, for example, in all translations provided by the administrators:

Configuration

Access the Parameters menu > Designer > > Language Tools to add or remove languages.

Since it is necessary to have a translation for each object (Category, Service, Article, Field), when adding a new language it must be determined from which of the already installed languages the values should be initialized. This means that when viewing the catalog in the new language, the tags will be displayed in the language that served as the source until those tags are translated.
